Christ of the Abyss statue at Key Largo Dry Rocks, FL
Christ of the Abyss is a bronze statue cast from the sculpture “Ill Cristo degli Abissi,” by Guido Galletti, an Italian artist. The first casting was placed in the Italian Rivera, a second casting is off the coast of St. George, in the Caribbean. The third sculpture, pictured here, was donated to The Underwater Society of America by the Cressi-Sub Corporation, a manufacturer of dive gear. It is about 8 ½ feet tall, and stands on a three-tiered platform in about 25 feet of water, three miles off the coast of Key Largo, FL.
Key Largo Dry Rocks, is one of the most popular dive and snorkel sights in the Upper Keys, partly due to the statue and partly due to the very shallow reef. If you decide to enjoy this dive site, please remember to never stand on the coral.
