Mustard Canyon, Death Valley Color Photograph
Mustard Canyon, Death Valley photography by Valerie Hayken

Mustard Canyon

Obviously Mustard Canyon was named for the gorgeous, deep golden yellow color of it’s hills. This is a small canyon, with low hill and not very long or deep. It’s magical, though. After you walk into the canyon, stop and listen. On a hot day you’ll hear the tell tale crackling sound of heat evaporation.

My favorite thing about this photograph is the tactile texture of the mustard color in these hills. More Death Valley photographs here.
